At Orchard Park Dental & Implant Center in Kelowna, our dentists offer dental sedation options to help patients feel more comfortable during long procedures, and to calm anxious patients.
What is Dental Sedation?
Dental sedation involves a number of techniques used to help patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures. Our dentists can help determine if a dental sedation option is right for you.
At Orchard Park Dental & Implant Center, we do everything within our power to help patients feel comfortable and at ease during their dental appointments. In addition to offering sedation options, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance as needed.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide soon calms patients, although they remain awake and able to communicate. It also tends to lessen anxiety, increase pain threshold, decrease gag reflex and make time pass more quickly.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives in pill or liquid form to be taken orally before your dental appointment. The medication leaves you awake for the procedure but tends to produce a calming effect to significantly relax you.
