At Orchard Park Dental & Implant Center in Kelowna, we offer a range of restorative dental services including fillings, bridges, crowns, and more to help restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.
What is Restorative Dental Care?
Any procedure that focuses on helping to restore the normal function and appearance of your smile falls under restorative dental care.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth, our dentists can help restore your smile – and your oral health.
Depending on your issue, the dentists at Orchard Park Dental & Implant Center will determine the right restorative treatment option for you.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays
Larger than a standard dental filling, inlays are used to repair cavities or decay in fissures and pits of a tooth. Their purpose is to fill space between cusps of a tooth's surface. Inlays can be made from porcelain or composite material and are strong enough to be placed on front teeth as well as molars.
Onlays
Onlays fix damage to the cusps of the tooth and in some cases can cover a tooth's entire biting surface. Onlays are best for when a patient has lost too much tooth enamel for a dentist to use a standard filling, but not damaged enough to warrant a crown. In general, dental onlays last for a longer period of time than a dental filling - up to 30 years.
Restorations
Same-Day Restorations
Using CEREC® technology, our dentists can make and place porcelain crowns, inlays and onlays in a single dental appointment to help restore your smile. No impressions, no temporaries - just tooth-coloured, metal-free restorations in one quick, convenient visit.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are porcelain caps are placed over the teeth to restore their function and appearance. They are typically used to attach bridges, cover dental implants or keep a cracked tooth from worsening. They can also help to restore a discoloured or stained tooth to its natural appearance
Dental Fillings
At Orchard Park Dental & Implant Center, we use composite (tooth-coloured) fillings to fill a cavity or repair tooth damage such as a crack. These fillings can withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing, and can be applied to front and back teeth.
Dental Bridges
Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements that are bonded to dental implants or existing teeth to replace a section of missing teeth. Bridges are custom-made and can restore he natural contour of teeth and the bite between upper and lower teeth. Bonus: they are barely noticeable.
Periodontal (Gum) Therapy
Gum disease infects the tissues of the mouth, including the gums, gingiva, alveolar bone, cementum, and periodontal ligament. If the disease is caught in the early stages, preventive therapy will be recommended. Otherwise treatment methods will depend on the severity and extent of disease.
Root Canals
During a root canal, diseased blood vessels, tissues and nerves are removed from the interior of a tooth. By getting rid of the decay and bacteria, your dentist can help halt the spread of infection and prevent the need for an extraction.
TMJ Disorder Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that connects your jaw to your skull's temporal bones. The disorder of this joint can cause several issues with your jaw and the muscles in your face, including painful symptoms. Our dentists can test for, diagnose and provide a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
